- Plaster is quick and easy to use and relatively light.
- It is usually set in a mould or modelled while still wet.
- Mix casting plaster into water – never the other way around.
- As plaster sets it gets hot – don’t cast body parts with it!
- Once dry, plaster is soft and brittle so it is best to build your work around a support system or armature.
- Dip lengths of scrim/hessian/jute into wet plaster and then drape around armatures/objects – this creates extra strength in the plaster.
